Fall 2015 WVDP Staff
Savanah Alberts – Lab Manager
Savanah is a senior English and French major from Shepherdstown, WV. She joined the WVDP lab in the fall of 2014 as a TA, and has since blossomed into an RA and lab manager. Her hobbies include drinking mocha lattes from The Grind, spouting feminist rhetoric, and looking at pictures of cute dogs.
Talia Betourney – Research Assistant
Talia Betourney is a junior English and Women & Gender Studies double major. They joined the West Virginia Dialect Project in the spring of 2015. They’re the Music Director for WWVU-FM and in their off time you’ll find them drinking a dirty chai in The Daily Grind or watching Twin Peaks at home with their multitude of felines.
Christine Odom – Research Assistant
Christine Odom is a senior at WVU studying biology and English. She has been working in the WVDP lab since 2014.
Kaitlin “Kat” Licause – Research Assistant
Kaitlin “Kat” Licause is a senior English major with a concentration in Professional Writing and Editing along with a Spanish minor. She’s been a resident assistant, a WVU New Student Orientation Leader, the managing editor for WVU’s official literary magazine Calliope, and currently is a research assistant who may or may not live under the desks in the WVDP lab. She has a passion for gaming journalism, soap-making, and slugs. She plans on teaching abroad, traveling abroad, and eating everything abroad before returning to the US to pursue a career in editing, writing, or publishing.
Olivia Grunau – Research Assistant
Olivia Grunau is a third-year student studying English literature and Western philosophy and began working as a WVDP research assistant in the summer of 2015. When she’s not researching dialects of her native language, she’s busy becoming fluent in German. Her future consists of criminal defense law and lots of traveling abroad.
Janelle Vickers – Teaching & Research Assistant
Janelle Vickers became a labbie for WVDP during the summer of 2015, and she currently studies English, Communication Studies, and Arabic Language and Culture at WVU. Originally from Moundsville, West Virginia, Janelle moved to Morgantown in 2013. She unabashedly loves Jane Austen, car sing-a-longs, and all types of animals; she somewhat abashedly loves lawn gnomes. Her future plans include a summer internship abroad and finally taking her dreaded math GEC.
Krislin Nuzum – Teaching Assistant
Krislin Nuzum is a junior English major at WVU. She learned about the dialect project through her linguistics class, and has since fallen in love with language variation and the research involved!
